Board Member Requirements
Accountability
The board member is accountable to the board of directors and has no authority to direct staff or act on matters outside the duties outlined in their position description.
Time Commitment
The board member will attend all board meetings and will actively participate in at least one committee. Because PIPCLT values relationship and trust building, the board member is expected to attend all meetings. Depending on the committee participation, board participation will require between 5-10 hours monthly. The full board meets on the first Tuesday of the month, from 3:30-5pm
Term of Office
The board member shall serve a two-year term consistent with PIPCLT’s bylaws.
Duties and Responsibilities
The board member will be responsible for the following:
Know, support, and advance PIPCLT’s mission, vision, values, and goals.
Regular attendance and active participation in all board and committee meetings.
Read and understand the org’s financial statements to ensure strong fiduciary oversight and financial management.
Active participation on at least one committee: Pre-Development, Fundraising/Finance, Business recruitment, Membership, Property Management, and Community Engagement.
Follow the org’s bylaws and policies, including conflict of interest disclosure, personnel manual, and internal controls.
Maintain confidentiality about all internal matters of PIPCLT.
Qualifications
A commitment to and clear understanding of PIPCLT’s mission, vision, and values
Strong interpersonal and community building skills
A track record for preparedness, reliability, and follow through
Strong attention to detail and a commitment to transparent and clear communication
Evaluation
If the board member misses two consecutive meetings or is unable to fulfill their duties as a board member, the board President, VP, and executive committee will re-evaluate the member’s tenure on the board and may recommend that the board member resign.
